Official Register of Driving Instructor Training – ORDIT

What is ORDIT?

The Driving Standard Agency (DSA) set up The Official Register of Driving Instructor Trainers (ORDIT). It is a list of professionally qualified driving instructor trainers and DSA inspected training centres. All official driving instructor training centres undergo a rigorous inspection every two years to ensure that their driving instructor trainers and their training centre are of a high standard to meet the DSA ORDIT criteria for driving instructor training.

Why use ORDIT?

By using an ORDIT approved driving instructor trainer you can rest assure that the training you receive is of

the highest level and you are not being trained by someone who just claims to be a driving instructor trainer and has no professional qualifications or experience to do so. ORDIT is the DSA’s official register of driving instructor trainers. It is the governing body to ensure that all the trainers are of a high quality.

At City Driving School we believe that anybody who delivers driving instructor training should be on the ORDIT register. We would like to see this become a mandatory requirement to help keep the driving instructor training standards at a high level.
If you decide to train with an organisation that is not on the ORDIT register you stand more chance of receiving inadequate training, which could result in possible loss of money and time because you may need to find an new trainer or even worse you might fail your tests and not qualify to become a driving instructor altogether.
(Please note that you are only allowed 3 test attempts on Part 2 and Part 3).

We are abide by the following ORDIT code of practice :
  • We will take all reasonable care, skill and diligence in providing training in all relevant aspects of traffic and driver education needed to pass the ADI qualifying exams, taking into account individual training needs and safety.
  • We will ensure all vehicles used in training are maintained in a safe and satisfactory condition, properly insured, taxed and where appropriate certified as roadworthy.
  • We will always apply an honest, moral and professional approach in all business practice and avoid improper language, suggestion or physical contact with Trainees as well as maintaining proper standards of hygiene and dress.
  • We will comply with all current legislation particularly in respect of business premises and practice, staff, vehicles and public liability. We will provide a copy of our Terms of Business and our complaints procedure.
  • We will not disclose to a third party any information given by a Trainee during training or training progress or driving and instructional ability except where under obligation in law or with the DSA as part of an ORDIT inspection or with a third party who is paying for a Trainee’s training but subject to the Trainee’s knowledge.
